Bulk Recycling & Corporate Asset Management
Where does the equipment go?
Equipment that enters our recycling process first has any hard drives removed from desktop or laptop units. The drives are tested and wiped if operational. All non-operational drives and equipment are physically destroyed, and customers always have the option of guaranteed physical destruction. After the drives are removed, the components may be analyzed for functionality. For equipment that is deemed defective, Mid-Iowa Computers separates the parts into separate waste streams for our raw materials processor. Our processor then smelts down the circuit boards for metals such as copper, lead, platinum, gold, and silver. These recycled metals are then used to create new electronic equipment such as tv's, laptops, and new computers.
